Are you eagerly waiting for the arrival of your new little one? Emmy & Ben were in the same boat when they contacted me about photographing their maternity session at Honey Bee Canyon.
Although maternity sessions are not my usual forte, Emmy loved my style and work, so we decided to give it a try anyway. With the time crunch on our hands, we set out to capture the beauty of her baby bump.
These two had been trying to get pregnant for about nine months before they found out the news. Emmy was so in-tune with her body that she had a vivid dream of taking a positive pregnancy test. When she woke up from the dream, she decided to take a test, and it was positive! She shook Ben awake and shared the news, and they sat there together, totally stunned.
Since Emmy’s parents retired in Tucson, Emmy & Ben frequently visit the area from Chicago. The last thing they wanted was to wear parkas during their maternity photoshoot, so they were looking for a warm climate to capture Emmy’s pregnancy photos in.
When we discussed possible locations for the session, Emmy shared her vision of cacti, mountains, and greenery if possible. Honeybee Canyon in Oro Valley turned out to be just the spot for their maternity session. There wasn’t a whole lot of green that day, but the astounding canyon views didn’t leave anything to be desired.
The big saguaro cacti and mountains in the background were a beautiful contrast to Emmy’s long, flowy dress, which accentuated the size of her belly. Emma chose to wear a baby blue maxi dress with white flowers, which nicely set the tone for the photoshoot.
Emmy was so passionate about capturing high-quality photos of their upcoming addition, and Ben was gracious enough to go along. Though having a photoshoot wasn’t Ben’s first choice, he knew how important it was for Emmy and the baby. I think that in the future, he’ll be so grateful he stepped into the frame!
As we clicked away, we could sense the excitement they both had for their little one, and it was a joy to capture that on camera. Emmy radiated sunshine, spreading that mama glow everywhere we went!
I couldn’t have asked for a better maternity session. Emmy and Ben, I hope you love these photos as much as I do! Thanks for choosing me to photograph your maternity session, even though it’s not what I specialize in. It was a ton of fun to shake things up and document this precious moment of your lives!
