Marisa & Scott’s Desert Wedding | Lodge on the Desert | Tucson, AZ

filed under

The excitement was tangible on the morning of Marisa and Scott’s desert wedding in Tucson. My anticipation grew as I packed up my camera gear and headed to Lodge on the Desert. I knew I was about to capture one of the most momentous events, not only for Marisa and Scott but on my calendar. I was really looking forward to Marisa and Scott’s wedding because I had the honor of photographing their engagement session! Their story is so heartwarming and sweet, so if you’re interested in reading more about what brought them from “swiping right” to “I do,” make sure to take a look here!

Like most brides, Marisa was planning this day for months, and she was eager to ensure that we started the day on the right foot. She and her bridesmaids were as busy as bees while they dressed in their gorgeous gowns from Wedding Belles AZ, but not before getting some shots with their matching robes.

Though we started running late, Jessica West worked magic on Marisa’s hair, and Ieshia Tapia perfected Marisa’s makeup. The men, in turn, dressed smartly in their suits from Nick’s Menswear.

A Desert Wedding First Look

When the bride and groom were ready, they met before the ceremony for a first look. This helped alleviate some of the pressure from the big event coming up, and it gave the couple a private moment that was just for them.

I was all for it because look how gorgeous these portraits turned out! I’m over the moon that we were able to get portraits during the first look because we didn’t end up having time for sunset photos later.

Desert Wedding in Tucson Vibes

I always like to ask my couples what the vibe of their wedding is, and this was their response:

“Classy Mexican Fiesta vibes! The primary colors are burt orange, earthy red and black with white roses and silver dollar eucalyptus. We are also using cotton, succulents, and cacti as a tribute to Arizona, our home state.”

Arizona has been such a pivotal part of their lives, so it made sense to include native plants and earthy color palettes in their theme. That’s one reason why Lodge on the Desert in Tucson was the perfect wedding venue for them!

It was clear that they found a venue that loved Arizona as much as they did! The caretakers are so attentive toward every inch of their venue. With their help, the ceremony was absolutely breathtaking. The effect was perfect when Marisa walked down the aisle! The guests couldn’t stop smiling at how dazzling she was.

Then, she and Scott said their vows. The guests cheered as the pair shared their first kiss as a married couple. The moment was so sweet that I couldn’t help but whoop along with them!

After the ceremony, we all went outside for the group shots. Scott and Marisa’s loved ones couldn’t stop grinning!

Since we ran out of time, I couldn’t get those sunset shots. But I am thrilled with what we did get! Marisa and Scott will be able to look back on this day as one of the most pivotal moments of their lives. I’m so pleased that I was able to be a part of it! Thanks so much for trusting me with your big day. I wish you all the best as you start your new life together!
