One of the biggest questions you will get is, “Have you picked out a date?” With good reason! Without a wedding date, you can’t move forward with the planning. Will it be a spring wedding? Fall wedding? Winter? New years? You get the idea. I want to talk about a few wedding dates you might want to avoid. There isn’t a rule saying you MUST get married on the weekend. There isn’t a rule that says you can’t get married on holiday. But the reason people wed on the weekend is to accommodate their guests. The same goes for some dates.
If you are in southern Arizona or anywhere with a similar climate, please consider NOT getting married outdoors. You will be miserable in your wedding dress, all sweaty and makeup ruined, but your groom and guests will probably be complaining the entire time (maybe not to your face). If you live somewhere like San Diego, where the weather always seems perfect, don’t worry about it!
Unless you and your family and friends have zero interest in sports, this is something to keep in mind. Superbowl weekend is the most popular sporting event EVER. It’s usually the first weekend in February, and people go all out to celebrate this event. The same goes for the NBA, MLB etc., etc. Don’t forget about college sports if you live in a college town!
There are so many different religions and cultures with different traditions and holidays that it would be nearly impossible to pick a date that doesn’t land on some holiday. A good rule of thumb is to avoid long weekends. People usually use these weekends to relax and travel with their families. A few that pop into my head are Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, 4th of July, Memorial Weekend, and spring break.

My son turns 11 today Eleven. I honestly do not know how that happened. During COVID, when the world had completely stopped and we were all just home together with nowhere to go and nothing to do, I took his portrait. He was little. He had that look on his face that only kids have, […]
