Absolutely! I do recommend bringing a friend along to keep track of your furry friend while we take the rest of the photos, though. Trust me — it makes it way less stressful!

Can we bring our dog?

We'll choose a place that makes sense for you— a sentimental place for your relationship, somewhere close to home, or somewhere far! I'm always ready for adventure and the options are endless!

Where will the session be?

I typically recommend planning your session 9-12 months out from your wedding! This will give you plenty of time to order save the dates, and just have fun! But if you want your session the week of your wedding, we can do that, too!

When will we do the session?

engagement session planning tips:

engagement session

Your engagement session is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other better, and get you more comfortable in front of the camera! This way, you'll barely notice me on your wedding day, making for more natural photos that capture the story as it unfolds.

If you're planning on sending "Save The Dates" your engagement photos are great to use there as well — if you've already chosen a design, be sure to share it with me so I can capture a photo that will fit perfectly.

My top tips to make you look coordinated, without looking overly matching. There's an art to this!

For both of you

Coordinate colors, but don't overdo the patterns!

don't forget:

Dressy engagement photos always stand out amongst those who go the more casual route, and they are so captivating to see. You’ll be sure to turn heads as you walk on the scene looking fantastic!

Most importantly

There is no such thing as “too dressy” for your engagement session.

FOR BOTH OF YOU

Consider the location of your shoot so that your outfits fit the surroundings!

don't forget:

Try picking two or three colors that blend well together and coordinate that way! Try experimenting with different shades of colors or adding different prints or fabrics to the mix.

sucess tip:

The trick to looking great in photos is to look coordinated, without looking overly matching.

FOR BOTH OF YOU

It's about feeling your best! Manicured hands will look fab for that ring shot

don't forget:

Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable! Being mindful of your own insecurities and choosing outfits that are flattering can go a long way to help you shine!

Most importantly

Looking and feeling your best will really show in your photos! Here are my best tips for you:

Flowy dresses are incredible for movement — they look sleek and elegant in photos, and can really add to the timeless feel! You'll have two outfits so I definitely recommend one more formal!

Not sure which one is right for you? Send me an email, and I'm happy to chat through what it would look like for your day!

You may have been dreaming of the moment the doors open as you walk down the aisle for your entire life — or you may not really have thought about this at all! Either is perfectly fine, and I hope this can shed some light on whether or not you should do a first look!

Doing a first look will allow the two of you to enjoy the day together before it all starts. It gives us more controlled time, so if you have a large family for portraits it can be a great option!

No first look means you'll be seeing each other for the first time as you come walking down the aisle.  You will also be taking wedding, family, and newlywed portraits right after the ceremony during cocktail hour.

Check out this blog post for more details.

It can feel like a big decision to decide whether or not you should do a first look.

Family formals planning tips:

Family Formals

About 2-3 months out from your wedding, you'll receive a wedding timeline questionnaire. This is where you can give me the exact shot list for your family formals. I do ask that the list is no longer than 20 groupings, especially if you will not be having a first look. Anything past 20 groupings we can capture at the reception.

Here is a a blog post with a sample shot list to help you get started.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You should expect to receive your gallery within 4-6 weeks from you wedding day. Just like your engagement portraits, you will receive access to an online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints. If you're looking for more impactful framework, let me know and we can design something. just for you.

WHEN CAN I ACCESS MY PHOTOS?

Absolutely! You are completely free to share your photos wherever and to whoever you'd like. Just remember to tag all vendors (we will all love you even more for that) and ask your family and friends to do the same. I will already be passing the gallery on to your vendors for you, so you don't have to worry about that!

CAN WE SHARE IT WITH OTHERS?

It means good luck! Honestly, Some of my favorite work has been on a rainy day. I recommend investing in clear umbrellas if you have a large bridal party. Overall, I wouldn't worry about it! I have photographed weddings during monsoon season and my gems have loved their portraits.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

As a photographer, I recognize the importance of print. I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t make sure that you had a tangible heirloom from the most momentous day of your life and the start of your legacy together. Not to mention, your images deserve a more beautiful place to live than the cloud. This is why I include an album and I don’t remove it or swap it out for other services/value.
